Business Immigration Program

The Business Immigration Program seeks to attract experienced business people to Canada who will support the development of a strong and prosperous Canadian economy.

There are three types of business immigrants:

IMMIGRANT INVESTOR PROGRAM

The Immigrant Investor Program was created by the Government of Canada to offer qualified business people a simple way of immigrating to Canada, while contributing to its prosperous, expanding economy.

This Program seeks to attract experienced business people and capital to Canada. Investors must:

demonstrate that they have business experience
have a minimum net worth of C$1,600,000 that was obtained legally and
make a C$800,000 investment.

The required investment is 100% guaranteed by the government, risk-free, and reimbursed fully upon maturity in five years without interest. You are not required to establish a company in Canada. Your investment is managed by the Canadian government that uses it to create jobs and help the economy grow.

Financing of Investment

You may finance your investment in the Immigrant Investor Program with a minimum deposit of C$180,000, which will serve to pay the interest on the loan. The cost of this financing option, therefore, represents an amount of C$180,000. This offer may vary according to Canadian interest rate fluctuations and the financial institution concerned.

ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM

The Entrepreneur Program seeks to attract experienced business people who will own and actively manage businesses in Canada that will contribute to the economy and create jobs. Entrepreneurs must:

demonstrate that they have business experience
have a minimum net worth of C$300,000 that was obtained legally and
respect the conditions for entrepreneurs after they arrive in Canada.

SELF-EMPLOYED PERSONS PROGRAM

Federal self-employed people

The Self-Employed Persons Program seeks to attract applicants who have the intention and ability to become self-employed in Canada. Self-employed persons are required to have either:

relevant experience that will make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada or
experience in farm management and the intention and ability to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.

Self-employed persons must have the intention and ability to create their own employment.

Quebec self-employed people

To be eligible for this program, you must:

come to Québec to create your own job by practicing a profession or trade on your own account.
have net assets of at least C$100,000 that have been legally obtained with, where applicable, your married or common-law spouse provided he or she is accompanying you
have at least two years of experience as a self-employed worker in the profession or trade you plan to practise in Québec.

Assessment of your application will also take into account other factors, such as:

your age and the age of your spouse, where applicable
the nature and duration of your respective professional training
your language skills
your personal qualities and your knowledge of Québec.
