Living in Canada
EDUCATION IN CANADA
Canada ranks among the world's leaders in per capita spending on public education. Therefore, all Canadians have access to a well structured education system, composed of public and private institutions offering high quality education.
Education at the elementary and secondary levels is free of charge to permanent residents of Canada and Canadian citizens. Since Canada has devoted generous allocations to ensuring that a university education is within the means of all residents, Canadian universities ask tuition fees that are as low as one-tenth that of an equivalent university in the U.S.
HEALTH CARE IN CANADA
The health of all Canadians is a responsibility that the government takes very seriously. Canada is proud to have been among the first nations to provide publicly administered universal health care. Anyone who needs medical attention has access to modern hospitals, clinics, doctors and specialists - at no cost to the user. The provinces provide all residents with health insurance cards, which entitle the bearer to receive free medical care for almost all procedures.
